About the role
Verda is looking for a Tax Manager to join our finance team in Helsinki. As the company scales, this role will become the dedicated point of contact for all tax and compliance matters — work that's currently being handled without formal tax expertise in-house. You'll own tax filings and compliance, build and scale the group's tax related processes and provide critical support on mergers and acquisitions as Verda continues to grow.
This is a foundational hire for the tax function at Verda — a chance to build the processes and structure that will scale with the business, with direct visibility to senior leadership.
Your responsibilities
Own and manage Verda's tax filing obligations across relevant jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Your responsibilities will include questions from both direct and indirect taxation in an international setting.
Serve as the primary point of contact for tax-related questions across the business, replacing ad hoc handling by non-specialist team members
Partner with Finance and Legal on tax considerations tied to company expansion and new market entry
Build relationships and work with external tax advisors
Analyze financial data sets to identify and execute on tax optimization opportunities
Build out tax processes, documentation, and controls to support the business as it scales
Support mergers and acquisitions activity by identifying and flagging fundamental tax issues and risks
Your key competencies
5-7 years of professional tax experience, ideally including time at a Big Four firm
Strong knowledge of European tax filing and compliance requirements
Experience analyzing tax implications in mergers and acquisitions
US tax knowledge is a nice-to-have, not a requirement
Comfortable operating as a sole tax specialist within a broader finance team, with the judgment to know when to escalate or bring in external advisors
Ability to take the initiative to build processes, as opposed to being told what to do.
What's next
We're building fast and this role needs the right person behind it. There's no artificial deadline, but when we find who we're looking for, we move. If this sounds like your next move, apply now.
