About the role
The Senior Hardware Engineer is a technical authority responsible for the architecture, validation, and lifecycle leadership of hardware platforms deployed across data center environments. This role drives hardware standards, reliability, and performance at scale, while providing senior-level technical guidance to engineering, operations, and procurement teams.
Operating with high autonomy, the role bridges engineering design, large-scale deployment, and operational reliability, ensuring hardware platforms meet current and future infrastructure needs.
Technical Authority & Engineering Leadership
Ownership of hardware architecture and standards across data center platforms
Authority to approve hardware designs, configurations, and lifecycle decisions
Recognition as a senior technical reference within the infrastructure organization
Direct influence on scalability, reliability, and performance outcomes

Your responsibilities
Hardware Architecture & Standards Leadership
Define and maintain hardware reference architectures and standards for:
Servers
Storage systems
Racks and supporting components
Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their applicability at scale
Approve hardware specifications and bill of materials (BoMs)
Validation, Reliability & Performance
Lead hardware validation, stress testing, and qualification programs
Establish reliability metrics and failure analysis frameworks
Drive corrective and preventive actions with vendors and internal teams
Deployment & Operational Excellence
Provide senior technical oversight during large-scale deployments
Act as escalation point for complex hardware-related operational issues
Ensure hardware designs support efficient installation, maintenance, and replacement
Lifecycle & Capacity Planning
Own hardware lifecycle strategy including:
Introduction
Refresh
Decommissioning
Support capacity planning and forecasting activities
Optimize performance, power efficiency, and total cost of ownership (TCO)
Vendor & Cross-Functional Leadership
Lead technical engagement with OEMs and hardware partners
Support procurement in technical evaluations, negotiations, and vendor selection
Mentor and guide junior hardware engineers
Collaborate with software, network, and operations teams on integrated solutions
Documentation & Engineering Governance
Own senior-level documentation including:
Architecture designs
Validation frameworks
Engineering standards and best practices
Contribute to audits, compliance, and operational reviews
Your key competencies
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Master’s degree or equivalent advanced technical training preferred
Experience
8–12+ years of experience in hardware, systems, or infrastructure engineering
Proven experience designing and supporting large-scale data center hardware platforms
Technical Expertise
Deep expertise in:
Server and storage architectures
Power, thermal, and rack-level design considerations
Hardware diagnostics, failure analysis, and reliability engineering
Strong understanding of Linux-based systems and hardware monitoring
Leadership & Personal Attributes
Strong technical judgment and decision-making capability
Ability to lead technical discussions and influence stakeholders
Mentorship mindset and collaborative approach
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
High standards for engineering quality and operational reliability
