An opportunity with make a clear impact and work alongside world-class engineers, researchers, and partners across the global AI ecosystem.
Practicalities
Work mode: Hybrid
Employment type: Full-time and permanent.
About the role
Verda's data centers are GPU-dense, power-intensive facilities built to run some of the most demanding AI workloads in Europe. Behind every cluster that goes live is a team that installed the hardware, commissioned the power infrastructure, validated the cooling systems, and handed it over ready to run. That team reports to you.
We're looking for a Head of Data Center Operations who is an engineering leader first. You've spent your career in the physical infrastructure of data centers, electrical systems, mechanical systems, high-density hardware installation and you know what it takes to bring a facility from shell to operational at speed without cutting corners on reliability.
This is not a role for someone who manages the people who manage the engineers. You are expected to know the work deeply, be present on-site during critical phases, and set the technical standard for how Verda builds and operates.
What you'll own
End-to-end technical delivery of all DC operations across Verda's colocation sites and owned facilities, from hardware installation through to steady-state operations.
Mechanical and electrical systems oversight: power distribution, UPS, generators, cooling infrastructure (air and liquid), and the commissioning processes that validate they perform to spec.
High-density GPU cluster installation: rack and stack, cabling, power whip installation, network connectivity, and the validation process before a cluster goes live.
Vendor and contractor management for M&E works, installation contractors, and specialist subcontractors. You define the scope, hold them to the standard, and sign off on delivery.
Technical standards and documentation: the installation playbooks, commissioning checklists, and operational procedures that the team works from.
Hardware readiness: working with Procurement to ensure the right components are on-site at the right time and the team is ready to receive and install them.
Expansion readiness: standing up the technical operations capability at each new Verda location access processes, local contractors, tooling, and trained staff, so new sites come online without chaos.
Building and leading the DC Ops engineering team: hiring, training, and developing the on-site technical staff and contractor network across locations.
What we're looking for
Required
10+ years in data center engineering and operations, with direct hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical systems in mission-critical environments.
Deep technical knowledge of data center M&E infrastructure: HV/LV power distribution, UPS and generator systems, CRAC/CRAH and liquid cooling systems, BMS, and the commissioning processes for each.
Direct experience with high-density compute installation, GPU clusters, HPC environments, or hyperscale rack deployments at 140kW+ per rack. You have physically overseen this work, not just managed the people who do.
Background from an environment where the technical bar is uncompromising: an AI hyperscaler DC engineering team, a specialist GPU cloud operator's infrastructure function, a leading GPU platform company's data center deployment organisation, or a tier-one mission-critical contractor who built for those clients.
Experience managing M&E contractors and installation vendors — writing scopes of work, running technical acceptance, and enforcing quality standards.
Comfortable being on-site during critical phases: installations, commissioning, expansions, and incidents.
Deployed +1000s Blackwell Servers Cluster
Strong plus
Experience specifically with NVIDIA GPU platform deployments HGX, DGX, or NVL72 systems, including the power, cooling, and networking requirements specific to those architectures.
Background commissioning facilities powered by renewable energy sources, hydropower, wind, including the grid connection and power quality considerations those bring.
Experience across both colocation environments and owned/built facilities, the operational model is meaningfully different and having both is an advantage.
Familiarity with Nordic construction and electrical standards, particularly Finnish and Swedish regulatory requirements for data center M&E systems.
Prior experience standing up technical operations in new geographies: hiring local teams, qualifying local contractors, and building the operational capability from scratch.
What we offer
Technical ownership of Verda's data center infrastructure across a rapidly expanding European and global footprint.
Direct involvement in some of the most advanced GPU infrastructure deployments in Europe, Blackwell Ultra platforms, high-density liquid cooling, InfiniBand-connected clusters.
A lean, engineering-led environment where your technical judgment is trusted and your decisions have immediate impact.
Competitive senior leadership compensation and meaningful equity.
What's next
We're building fast and this role needs the right person behind it. There's no artificial deadline, but when we find who we're looking for, we move. If this sounds like your next move, apply now.
